I’ve read recently that some people think New Jersey is already too densely populated, congested and overbuilt, and therefore has no room to build much-needed affordable housing.
Affordable housing should no longer carry the stigma of being for only poor and low-income families. The truth is that the lack of housing within the financial reach of many New Jerseyans impacts the elderly, young married couples with no access to enormous generational wealth, and people of all colors who are the service backbone of our cities and towns. Many teachers, cops, firemen, social workers, city, and town employees simply cannot afford to live in towns they serve.
